The time has finally come to remove the Entrecard widget from Tulips Talking and make better use of the sidebar space it has occupied. Over the last couple of months some major bloggers have dropped Entrecard and some of my favorite places to advertise (that have brought me the most traffic) have left as well, but the last straw in helping me make that decision was the credits to advertise continued to drop as I disapproved all paid ads.
Another important issue with Entrecard, trying to locate blogs worthy of spending your hard earned credits to advertise on is a huge time waster mainly because 97% to 98% of the blogs in the Entrecard system are one small step above being spam blogs. And unfortunately the pricing system for advertising isn’t based on actual traffic a blog receives, it’s based on how many ads are waiting to be shown in the blog’s que. This sometimes creates hugely overpriced ads that bring little to no traffic.
The process of hunting down blogs in your niche, visiting them to see what they look like, weeding through blogs that have advert prices above 1000 credits, yet have less than 10 rss readers, getting less than quality traffic from your ads and then sticking with that process week, after week, after week is just too cumbersome. Where Entrecard fails in my opinion is that the adverts you place only last for 24 hours.
That just doesn’t work economically for me. If I’m going to spend 8 hours doing advertising for my blog, it should last longer than 10 days and bring better quality traffic. Entrecard is too much like those lame traffic exchange systems where you earn traffic credits for visiting other sites in the system you aren’t interested in just to get people who aren’t interested in your site to visit you. Sadly, Entrecard is not much different than that.
All Entrecards from my que have run, and today I removed the EC advert from this blog. See ya later Entrecard.

Entrecard has certainly been a roller coaster ride. I just joined in January and have enjoyed visiting your blog, along with lots of other quality blogs that I enjoy reading. I agree with you though that things don't seem worth it sometimes with the effort required to earn those credits and then try to decide which blogs to spend those credits on for ads. Best wishes - I'll become a follower so I can keep reading!
Entrecard can be a bit much at times and sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it too. You have made some valid points!
Totally understand you dropping it.
Well said! I do miss finding different blogs to read but I have plenty of time to search on my own.
I am leaning towards getting rid of it also! Its such a butt now!
I joined entrecard a few weeks ago,and though,I've tried to write quality writing, I've also read lots and lots of great blogs on there, and I'll continue to read yours. I'll add yours to my faves, and later to my blogroll. I enjoy this blog.
love your image! Only you, lily, would make something that unique! You're on my favorites list, so I'll keep coming back!
I always used to wonder whether or not Entrecard was worth the time invested. Now that most of the decent blogs have left, I don't see any point continuing.
I've left the card on a few blogs, but I don't bother dropping unless I would've visited the blog anyway.
I havent done a lot with EC myself. Never really kept up with it well from the beginning!
I love entrecard maybe I'm the chosen few! You need the firefox entrecard toolbar and you can get all 300 drops done in 20 mins if you wanted too! I do 300 drops everyday! I have step by step directions here: http://jleighdesignz.blogspot.com/2009/03/entrecard-follow-up-and-answersaka.html
Thank you so much J. Leigh, your attempt to help is cute, but appreciated. Yours is one of the blogs I visited every day, 7 days a week (barring unforseen circumstances) using FireFox and the tool bar dropping 300 card everyday.
Was almost up to 800 credits to advertise on this (MY) blog (something ec forgot), and had over 12,000 credits to spend myself. Though after turning down the non-credit advertising the credits to advertise on this blog eventually dropped to "2"! WTF is that?
The day after I dropped EC, I received the nonsense email from one of the geniuses at EC.
You must allow the non-paying advertising on your blog, thus allowing your paying droppers to get ripped off.
B.e.c.a.u.s.e the non-paid advertising takes up at least 50% of your credits paying customers "credits paid" advertising time.
No offense meant, no offense taken.
